A reading comprehension activity, or informational text, with comprehension and grammar questions followed by an extension task about the famous Italian artist, Leonardo da Vinci. The Google Forms activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in Year 5 or Year 6 learning about Art History.
When downloaded this resource includes a printable version of the reading comprehension and a PDF with a link that allows you to copy the Google Forms document and save it in your Google Drive.
The activity can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and is easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.
Time allowance to complete:
5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.
30-40 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)
Time allowance to assess:
A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. The remote learning unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. The Google Slides activity is ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in Year 3 or Year 4 learning about space or for Women’s History Month.

The first lesson is interactive and involves students reading facts, and then sorting and ordering these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the children need to use these facts to type four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson they need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions before typing up their conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs before typing up their work on to the template provided.

Firstly, there are five close reading activities, or informational texts, about:
An Overview of Ancient Egypt

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.
Then, our Ancient Egypt Empire Map Activities and Presentation brings history and geography to life. Students will explore the ancient lands of Egypt, uncover the secrets of places like Giza, Alexandria and Memphis, and trace the mighty Nile River.
After, there are two biography writing units about Cleopatra and Tutankhamun. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Then, there is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to some of the key events of Ancient Egypt. There are 30 posters or task cards that include many of the key events and periods from the period. The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to Ancient Egypt. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated.
Then, there is an informational text writing unit about Ancient Egypt. The unit has also been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Finally, there is a discussion based writing unit discussing who is the greatest leader from Ancient Egypt. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

This is a free preview of the William Shakespeare Play Script - Macbeth. The full play script is available for just £4.50 by following the link above.
The play script has been written to be suitable for ages 8-13. Macbeth tells the story of a fierce warrior who meets three strange witches on his way home after a battle. The witches tell him that he will be King. At first Macbeth thinks they are lying but then he starts to believe the witches’ prophecies.
He sends a letter to his wife, Lady Macbeth, who persuades him to kill the King and claim the throne. He does this but the couple find the guilt too much, and then the previous King’s sons come back for revenge. The story ends in death for Macbeth, as Macduff and Malcolm come to claim back the throne!

An Ancient China Escape Room activity perfect for group work, starting a new ancient history topic, team-building activities or for a fun, engaging and interactive lesson.
The activity has been split into four different tasks; your students will need to complete each of the tasks to reveal a word. Together the four words make a phrase for them to escape the room.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Ancient China and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.
In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.
In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.
In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.
Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.

Firstly, there are five reading activities, or informational texts, about:
An Overview of Ancient Mesopotamia
Sargon of Akkad
Epic of GIlgamesh
Hammurabi’s Code
Advancements of Mesopotamia
These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity, crossword puzzle and wordsearch for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.
Secondly, there is a biography writing unit about Sargon of Akkad. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Then, there are three informational text writing units about Ancient Mesopotamia, Hammurabi’s Code and the Epic of Gilgamesh. The units have each been split into three or four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
Finally, there is an Ancient Mesopotamia Timeline Activity and Display. It is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events and people of Ancient Mesopotamia. There are 38 posters or task cards that include many of the key events from the beginning of the first settlements, the Epic of Gilgamesh, Hammurabi’s Code and the conquering of the region by Alexander the Great.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Tutankhamun and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.
In Task 2 students will use the same informational text to complete a crossword puzzle. Within the puzzle there are several hidden letters which will need to be unscrambled on the completion of the puzzle to reveal the second word.
In Task 3 students will have to cut out 27 timeline task cards before putting them in order from the earliest date to the most recent. When they have finished their task they can glue them onto the answer key which will reveal their third word.
In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word.
Students can then complete their student answer key with the four words they revealed before checking with the teacher to see if they have escaped successfully.
